(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty How to Begin

Post  EXODUS Fri Sep 17, 2010 9:47 am

When you first register for the game, you'll be asked which server you'd like to play on.
Each server is completely separate from the rest and you are not able to switch between servers without starting all over again.

It is generally recommended that you sign up for the server that is closest to your location since this - in theory - should give you the least amount of game lag.
However if you have friends already playing that you'd like to play with, it's important that you sign up for the same server as them. Otherwise you won't be able to play together.

Once you have logged in or signed up for the game, you will be asked which company you'd like to join.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Some companies may be stronger than others. Which one is the strongest will depend on which server you have chosen.
However all companies have positives and all companies have negatives, so it's always recommended that you stick it out and work hard to improve your company, no matter which one you sign up for.

After you select your company you'll be taken to the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
(Click the link for a detailed description)

To start playing all you have to do is click the START button at the top right of the page.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Now a new window will open (make sure you do not have popups blocked) and the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] will begin loading.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Once loading is complete, simply click on the START button at the middle bottom of this screen and your Dark Orbit experience will begin!!

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Game Screen

Post  EXODUS Fri Sep 17, 2010 11:15 am

The Game Screen or Space Map is the screen on which you will play the game.

On the Game Screen you will see a number of icons you can click to open and close a variety of windows. All of these icons can be dragged to any place on the screen that you like best.
A description of each is listed below.

At the top right you will see the Main Control Panel.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The following details each button in the main control area:

[3] - Help Section - Clicking this will open a window that has helpful information about the game.
[4] - Settings - This is where you can customize your game play settings (click link for more details).
[5] - Sell Resources - Activate this icon to open a window where you can choose which resources you'd like to sell (click link for more details). This can only be used at base unless you have an HM7 Trade Drone.
[6] - Instant Repair - This is only usable at base and costs 10 repair credits. It's NOT recommended that you use this function as it is VERY costly and gives you very little benefit.
[7] - Refine/Update - Clicking this will open a window where you can refine your ores or apply them to your ship for shield/damage/speed boosts (click link for more details).
[8] - Jup Portal - When close to a portal this icon will light up. Clicking it will cause you to jump through the portal (you can also push the "J" key on your keyboard).

Your Back Page is your main browser window (not your game play screen).

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

On it you will see your User Information, as well as Breaking News about the game.

Clicking on Equipment in the Hangar area will take you to a screen where you can equip and unequip all of your weapons and items.
You can also view the damage status of your drones.

See the [url=]Skylab[/url] section of this guide for details.

Clan
The Clan area will take you to a detailed page with all the information about your Clan and it's members.
If you do not have a Clan, this is where you can go to apply for membership in one.
There is also an option to create your own but it is advised that you resist starting your own Clan right away as there are many many details about game play and unwritten rules on each server that take a long time to become accustomed to.

Uridium
This tab will take you to a page where you can purchase Uridium or a Premium Membership, as well as other items via several payment methods, including PayPal, Credit Card, and several others.

Quests
Go to the Quests tab to access all of the in game quests available to you.
You can accept and cancel quests here. As well as view the status of quests you currently have running.

In this area you can use your Galaxy Gate Energies and/or use Uridium to build up your Galaxy Gates.

Pilot Bio
The [url=]Pilot Bio[/url] is a feature that allows you to purchase skills that enhance your game play (click the link for a comprehensive guide).

Lastly, at the top right of your Back Page you will find a Logout button.
Just as the Logout button on your Game Screen logs out your ship, the Logout button on your Back Page logs out your Player Profile.

It's highly recommended that you Log Out each time you close your Dark Orbit Back Page.

**Note: You can also use the link at the far bottom right of the page to access Legal and Contact Information for Bigpoint, the game's operator.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Game Settings

Post  EXODUS Fri Sep 17, 2010 3:00 pm

To access the Game Settings simply click on the Settings symbol on your Game Screen.

IMPORTANT: All new players who do NOT wish to become [url=]Outlaws[/url] should first go to the Display tab and UNCHECK the option that says, "Show cargo boxes which are NOT free" in case it is not already unchecked.
This is the option that allows you to see and steal other player's cargo.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Once open you will see 3 tabs that are fairly self explanatory:

Gameplay

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

In this tab are options associated with weaponry, resources, log in and other aspects of Gameplay.

Display

In this tab are options regarding how the game screen is displayed.
It also controls how certain aspects of the game are displayed. Things like whether or not drones are visible, and whether or not explosions are shown.

This is also the place you go to set your Screen Resolution. However the resolution setting you can pick may be limited by the maximum resolution on your computer monitor.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Sound

Here you have the option to turn on/off the game music and sound effects.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Base Maps and Protection Systems

Post  EXODUS Fri Sep 17, 2010 3:02 pm

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

This is an example of the EIC base map.
In this image you can see there are two enemies on the map (indicated as red dots framed by dotted yellow squares).

All players are able to see an enemy's location anywhere on their base map (x-1 map) until they reach level 6. After that, enemies will only be visible when they are within range.
(Note: As a new player it's always a good idea to help out higher level players by posting enemy locations in the chat window. It's a good way to help out the company and introduce yourself to the group at the same time.)

Also note the yellow "threat meter" to the left of the image that shows two enemies currently in the map.
The threat meter is only visible in your home x-1 and x-2 maps, and will indicate as many as 5 enemies.

While in your home x-1 and x-2 maps you cannot be attacked by anyone from your own company.

As an additional protection, no enemies can attack you in your own x-1 map unless you attack them first.
This protection applies to players of ALL levels.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Offers and Achievements

Post  EXODUS Fri Sep 17, 2010 3:04 pm

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

When you first start playing you should see a window like this called "Achievements".

These are only available to you between the levels of 1-3. After that you will no longer have access to them.
Because of this we recommend you do them first, before you do anything else.

Once you have completed each task, it will glow gold in the Achievements window.
You will then receive the reward listed, and have the option to purchase the offer shown beside the completed task.

All offers and tasks will become unavailable once you reach level 4, so make sure you make any purchases before you level up.

During this same period you will also receive occasional popup offers that allow you to purchase certain items at great discounts. Some items will not be available again.

As with the Achievements these are no longer available once you reach level 4.

We highly recommend buying the HM7 Trade Drone when the offer pops up.
For only 99 cents (85p) this will allow you to sell your cargo from anywhere on the maps, saving you a lot of time and enabling you to earn game credits much faster.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Attacking!!

Post  EXODUS Fri Sep 17, 2010 3:11 pm

In the customizable shortcut bar, select which laser and rocket ammunition you'd like to use.
This will remain the same for every attack until you click on another form of ammunition, or until you run out of the current ammunition.

Once you have selected your ammunition, attacking enemies and aliens is as simple as clicking on the target you wish to shoot and pressing the CTRL key on your keyboard.

Depending on which options you have selected in your Settings screen, there are 2 other ways you can attack with your Lasers.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

With the above option checked you can simply double click an enemy to attack.
(Warning: Activating this option makes it easy to launch an attack accidentally.)

Two lines further up from this option is another option that will allow you to attack simply by selecting an ammo type in your Shortcut Bar. ("Start and stop attacks using the shortcut bar")
With this option checked you avoid having to use the CTRL key to attack, but it can cause you to attack accidentally when trying to switch ammunition types.

To fire rockets press the SPACE BAR.

If you have already purchased the AROL-X CPU and have it equipped and activated, you will no longer need to push the SPACE BAR each time. Rockets will automatically fire once you activate your lasers.

Rockets also have what's known as a "cool down" time.
This is the amount of time it takes before your rockets will fire again.

The cool down time for rockets can be reduced by purchasing the ROK-T01 CPU.
This will halve your cool down time, making your rockets fire twice as fast.

Players who have premium memberships will also see an additional decrease in the cool down time for their rockets, making them fire even faster.

When attacking an NPC or enemy player, you will see a RED target circle if you are the player with the lock. Rewards are only given to the player who has the lock unless in an [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
If you see a Grey target circle, that means another player has the lock and you will not receive any rewards other than the satisfaction of helping a fellow player!

If you stop attacking an NPC or enemy player for more than 5 seconds you will lose your target lock and it will be given to the next player who attacks.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Ship Configurations

Post  EXODUS Fri Sep 17, 2010 3:24 pm

All ships have 2 available Configurations you can set up and use.

You can equip and remove items from each configuration in the "Equipment" area of your [url=]Hangar[/url].

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

You can also switch between any Ship designs that you have here.

Once your Configurations have been set up you can switch back and forth between them at any time on the [url=]Game Screen[/url] by either clicking the small "gear" symbol in your Ship Status window or by pressing the "C" key on your keyboard.

Please Note: There is a 5 second waiting period after switching configurations before it will let you switch again.

When changing the equipment in your configurations, you can equip/unequip items more quickly by holding the SHIFT or CTRL keys while clicking on the item you wish to equip/unequip.

Please Note: If you are logged into the Game Screen you MUST be at one of your company's bases in order to add/remove items from your configurations.
Otherwise you will need to log out before you can continue.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Cargo and Resources

Post  EXODUS Fri Sep 17, 2010 4:20 pm

The Basics

Each time you kill an NPC or an enemy ship, it will leave behind a Cargo Box that you can pick up.
Unless you're in an [url=]Outfit[/url] the Cargo left behind belongs to the player who had a red target on the NPC when it died.

Cargo that is yours will appear as an orange/yellow colour.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Cargo that belongs to someone else will NOT be visible by default.
If you have altered your [url=]Settings[/url] and checking the option to "Show cargo boxes that are NOT free" you will be able to see (and steal) other player's cargo.
This cargo will appear as a grey/blue colour.

Be warned however. Stealing cargo will affect your [url=]Honour[/url] and could eventually lead to you becoming an [url=]Outlaw[/url].

After 15 seconds - if the owner has still not taken it - the cargo will change colour to orange/yellow appear to all players. At this point it is free for anyone to take.

Different NPC's give different amounts and types of cargo. The main types of cargo you will can receive from aliens are:
Prometium
Endurium
Terbium
Prometid
Duranium
Promerium
Xenomit

The first 3 are basic resources. They can be sold for in game [url=]Credits[/url] or refined to make more valuable ores (details below).

Prometid and Duranium are more valuable resources. They too can be sold in game, but they can also be used to apply temporary upgrades to your engines, shields and weapons.

Promerium is a premium resource. It sells for a much higher amount than the others, however it is much more rare.
It can also be used to apply more powerful upgrades to your engines, shields and weapons.

Xenomit is only given in cargo left by Boss NPC's (except Boss Streuners).
It is used when refining (see below for details) other resources and also when using some in game items like Smart Bombs, Targeting Chips and Inst-Sheilds.
You can also bid on Xenomit in the [url=]Trade[/url] area.

In addition to these resources, there is also a very rare resource known as Seprom.
It can be acquired from the cargo left behind by other players (if they had any on board when they were killed) or from the [url=]Skylab[/url].
Seprom cannot be sold and it cannot be applied to engines for speed boosts.
It can however be used to apply very powerful upgrades to your shields and weapons.

Selling Cargo

To sell your Cargo simply click on the icon in your Game Screen.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

This icon will only light up if you are at a base or if you have purchased the HM7 Trade Drone.

When the window opens you will see a list of all your resources along with a box beside each that allows you to enter the number of each you'd like to sell.
Once ready, just click "Sell" beside the appropriate resource and a log entry will appear telling you how many Credits you have received.

Refining Cargo

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Your cargo can be Refined into higher value materials. You can do this either to save space and fit more resources into your cargo bay (meaning less trips to base) or to create better resources to use for engine, shield and weapons upgrades.

The following is a list of resources you can create from Refining:

1 Prometium requires 20 Prometid and 10 Endurium
1 Duranium requires 10 Endurium and 20 Terbium
1 Promerium requires 10 Prometium, 10 Duranium and 1 Xenomit

Refining all the way to Promerium has become less important with the introduction of the [url=]Skylab[/url].
It is now primarily a method of saving space and reducing the number of times you need to return to base to sell your cargo.

Applying Upgrades

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Depending on the type of resource you have, upgrades can be applied to your engines, shields and weapons (lasers and rockets).

The amount of increase received for each type of resource is listed below:

Prometid - Can be applied to your weapons for a 15% damage boost.
Duranium - Can be applied to your shields and engines for a 10% boost to either shield points or speed or both.
Promerium - Can be applied to your weapons for a 30% damage boost. It can also be applied to your shields and engines for a 20% boost to either shield points or speed or both.
Seprom - Can be applied to your weapons for a 60% damage boost. It can also be applied to your shields for a 40% boost to your shield points. Cannot be used for a speed boost.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Credits, Uridium and Trade

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 9:54 am

Credits are the basic currency in Dark Orbit.

You can earn Credits by [url=]Selling Cargo[/url], collecting [url=]Bonus Boxes[/url] and by killing NPC's.

These Credits can then be used to purchase certain in game items directly, or to bid on items in the auction like Trade area.

Uridium is the premium currency in Dark Orbit.
You can earn small amounts of Uridium by collecting Bonus Boxes and by shooting NPC's.
It can also be purchased through the payment page using a credit card, Paypal, and various other forms of payment.

Uridium is used to purchase [url=]Elite Items[/url] and [url=]Ammunition[/url].
It is also used to repair your ship if you do not have a premium membership.
[url=]Drones[/url] are also repaired with Uridium (250 per repair for premium members and 500 for non-premium members).

The Trade section provides an alternative to using Uridium for MOST items.
In this area you will find an auction like feature that allows you to bid on items with Credits.

Bidding is easy, but it can be expensive.
While there are average prices for each server, no one can tell you how much the winning bid will be, and no one can see another user's bid price.

For average bid prices on the item you want to purchase, try asking in your company chat tab. Since the forums (both this one and the official forum) are used by people from many different servers, it isn't the right place to ask this type of question.

Be Forewarned: Any bids you make are instantly deducted from your Credits. These Credits are NOT returned, even if you do not win the item you're bidding on.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Bonus Boxes

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 10:15 am

Bonus Boxes can be valuable, so make sure you pick up as many as you can.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

When picking up a Bonus Box you will have a random chance to get any one of the following:

Ammunition - All kinds of laser (except UCB-50 and RSB-75) and all basic forms of rockets can be found.
Credits - A few hundred credits here and there adds up after a while.
Galaxy Gate Energies - These are used in the Galaxy Gate generator for your chance to receive one of many different items including pieces towards the building of your Galaxy Gates!
Uridium - The game's most valuable currency. Each Bonus Box has the chance to give you anywhere from 20 to 100 Uridium in normal maps.
The more you collect, the stronger you can become!

In Battle Maps 4-1, 4-2 and 4-3 you receive a 50% bonus to all Bonus Box rewards.
i.e. The maximum Uridium amount becomes 150 instead of 100.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Maps start with different numbers to indicate which company they belong to.
Starting with 1- means Mars Mining Operation (MMO)
Starting with 2- means Earth Industries Corporation (EIC)
Starting with 3- means Venus Resources Corporation (VRU)
Maps starting with 4- are Battle Maps!

x-1 maps are where everybody starts. This is the base map for your company and is where you will go to sell resources (unless you have already purchased an HM7 Drone).

Using the system described above, we can figure out that 1-1 would be MMO's base map.
2-1 would be EIC's base map, and 3-1 would be VRU's base map.

Each company also has a base map in their respective "upper" maps. These are the x-8 maps. Using the same example as above that means 1-8 belongs to MMO, 2-8 to EIC, and 3-8 to VRU.

When you die in the lower maps, you will automatically respawn at your x-1 base.
If you are at least level 12 or higher and you die in the upper maps, you will automatically respawn at your x-8 base.

The Battle Maps consist of 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, 4-4 and 4-5.
If you are attacked when flying in any of the Battle Maps, you will NOT be able to portal jump to escape.
You must wait until either you die, or until 5 seconds have passed since the last time you were damaged before you will be able to jump through a portal.

There are however some differences between certain Battle Maps.
In 4-1, 4-2 and 4-3 there are no NPC's. However there are bonus boxes that give 50% more rewards than those found in the regular company maps.
All 3 of these maps also contain a center portal that will take you to the upper maps via map 4-4.

Map 4-4 is used to access upper and for battles only. There are no NPC's in this map and no bonus boxes either.
(Some quests require you to go to map 4-4).

Map 4-5 is a special Battle Map in a few ways.
First: You have attack protection when you first jump into this map.
As long as you remain at portal and don't shoot, no player or NPC can attack you for 15 seconds.
Don't wait too long though! Once you're attacked you won't be able to jump out, just like the other Battle Maps. (This goes for attacks by NPC's as well).

Second: There are no bonus boxes in 4-5 BUT, there are NPC's of all kinds.
Everything from x-1 Streuners to Kristallons of both basic, Boss, and Uber form can be found in this map.
The only NPC's not found here are Cubikons and Protegits.

Third: In the middle of map 4-5 you will come across a Wormhole. When flying over this Wormhole in the right spot, you will notice your jump gate icon activate.
If you press jump, you will be instantly transported to another map that you have access to. Which map you jump to will be entirely random. Sometimes it will even transport you directly to another Battle Map! pale

Always keep in mind that in order to jump to any map, you MUST be a high enough level to access it.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Experience Points

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 10:40 am

Experience Points (EP) are what you will need if you want to level up your ship and have fun in the game.

There are several ways to gain EP in the game.

- Rewarded for killing aliens (NPC's)
- Rewarded for completing quests
- Rewarded for killing enemy player ships
- Rewarded for completing Galaxy Gates

Experience points also count towards your player ranking.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Honour System

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 10:41 am

Honour is rewarded in the same way as EP.

- Rewarded for killing aliens (NPC's)
- Rewarded for completing quests
- Rewarded for killing enemy player ships
- Rewarded for completing Galaxy Gates

Honour not only counts towards your player ranking, but it also helps when selling resources!
The higher your Honour, the more game credits you will receive when you sell your cargo.
(Up to a maximum of double the basic sale value)

Calculation resource price : * (1 + Honorpoints / 500.000).

As an example;

Prometium: 50,000 honor = +1 Credit
Endurium : 33.333 honor = +1 Credit
Terbium : 20.000 honor = +1Credit
Prometid + Duranium: 2.500 honor = +1 Credit
Promerium : 1.000 honor = +1 Credit

While doing good things helps to give you more Honour, being bad will take away your Honour!

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Rank System

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:34 am

The Rank System assigns a user ranking based on the number of rank points you have.

To view your current Rank Title and Rank Points, click on "All Hall of Fame Records" at the bottom left of your Home page on the Back Page.
This should bring you to a page that lists your current position in the ranking, as well as a few other stats about your account.

At the bottom of the page you will see a pull down list with a variety of Hall of Fame listings.
In that list select "Your Rank Today".

You will now see a page with your current Rank Title at the top and a detailed description of how your rank points are calculated.

For example;

524792537 EP/100,000
+ 4876201 Honor/100
+ 29246 HP destroyed x 3
+ your level (17) * 100
+ 514 days since registration x 6
+ your ship type (10) * 1000
+ 82169 alien HP destroyed/2
+ 154 quests completed x 100
- 5 friends shot down x 100
- 354 kills by enemies x 4
- 1 radiation zone destruction x 8
- 141 Phoenixes shot down x 2

= 210,810 rank points

It will also tell you how many Rank Points you need to reach the next Rank Title, and how close behind the next Rank below you is.

Scrolling down will give you a detailed list of how many NPC's of each type you have killed, as well as a detailed list of which types of enemy ships you've destroyed.
It will also show you how many rank points you will receive for each type of NPC/Ship.

Your Rank Title is based on the number of Rank Points you have compared to other players in your company.

The following is a list of the possible game Rank Titles and what percentage of the company can have them at any given time:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Basic Space Pilot - 20% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Space Pilot - 12.39% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Chief Space Pilot - 10.0% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Basic Sergeant - 9.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Sergeant - 8.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Chief Sergeant - 7.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Basic Lieutenant - 6.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Lieutenant - 5.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Chief Lieutenant - 4.50% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Basic Captain - 4.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Captain - 3.50% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Chief Captain - 3.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Basic Major - 2.50% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Major - 2.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Chief Major - 1.50% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Basic Colonel - 1.00% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Colonel - 0.50% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Chief Colonel - 0.10% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Basic General - 0.01% of each company.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] General - The player with the highest number of rank points in each company.

Having a Rank Title requires you to have a higher number of Rank Points than the percentage of other players with the same rank (as shown above).
This means that your Rank Title may go up or down depending on how many Rank Points you have gained compared to other players in your company.

Inactive ships will lose their Rank Titles after a certain period of time.
When logging in with a ship you haven't used in a while, you may see your Rank Title has returned to Basic Space Pilot, even though you have much higher Rank Points.
But don't worry!! Your Rank Title should return to normal within 24 hours of account activity
.

*Note: Occasionally ships that have been inactive will also see this underneath their Rank:
"You're the administrator and that's why you don't have a rank."

If you see this message wait the 24 hours as described above. If you still see this message, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and log back into the game.
It should be fixed.

Rank Titles are only updated at each day's server reset. So may have to wait up to 24 hours to see your new Rank Title appear.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Outfits

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:16 pm

The Outfit System allows players with a common goal or quest to join together in a group.

All ACTIVE players in an Outfit will share the rewards from every NPC destroyed.
Each member of the outfit will also receive credit for every NPC kill. This makes it a very useful feature when trying to finish quests, since a group of players are able to kill NPC's much more quickly than one player all alone.
For newer players it also means they are able to group up and kill larger NPC's that they normally wouldn't be able to handle on their own.

All players in an Outfit will see a red target lock on any target that belongs to any member of their Outfit.
Any Cargo dropped by NPC's or enemy ships will also become immediately available to all members in the same Outfit.

To use the Outfit System you must have the Outfit window open.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

To start your own Outfit, simply enter the player's name you wish to invite (if they are close by, clicking on their ship will enter it automatically) and then click on the symbol that looks like an envelope.
An invitation is then sent to that player and they can choose to accept, decline or ignore your invitation.

When receiving an Outfit invitation, you will see the player's name who has invited you, as well as an option to accept or decline. Invitations not accepted after a certain amount of time will automatically be canceled.

Once you're in an Outfit you will see the following window:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

1 - Ship Type - This will display each user's type of ship.
2 - Hitpoints/Shields - for each player in the Outfit. (Rolling your mouse over top will tell you their current HP/Shields)
3 - Leave Outfit - Clicking this when you wish to leave the Outfit you're in.
4 - Allow Invites - Clicking this will allow all users to invite new members to the Outfit.
5 - Ping - Click this and then click a point on the mini map to activate a green blip on the Mini Map that will show other users where you are or where you'd like to go. Clicking this and then on another user in the Outfit will show you where that user is on the map with the same green blip.
6 - Follow - Click this and then on any member in the Outfit and your ship will fly to their location automatically.
7 - Change Leader - You can choose a new Outfit leader using this option.
8 - Kick Member - Highlight a member of this Outfit and then click this button to kick them out.
9 - Target - This displays a symbol showing you what that player is currently shooting at.

Please Note: Enemy ship kills (other players) are NOT shared when in an Outfit. Even though all members of the Outfit will see a red lock, and all members will immediately see the Cargo left behind, only the first player to attack will receive the EP/Honour rewards and kill credit.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Help!! I'm an Outlaw!!

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:23 pm

If you have a small target symbol on the left side of your name, it means you have become an Outlaw.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Outlaws are players who have negative Honour because they have somehow wronged their fellow company members and are free to be attacked by their own company without any penalties.

Negative Honour is incurred in one of two ways:

1. By stealing cargo from fellow company members.
This incurs an Honour penalty that doubles each time you do it.
For example;

First theft -10 honor
Second theft -20 honor
Third theft -40 honor
Fourth theft -80 honor
etc. etc.

2. By killing ships from your company.
This too incurs an Honour penalty that doubles each time you do it. (Exceptions to this rule are when the other ship fires on you first, or when your clans are at war with each other)
For example;

First kill: -100 honor
Second kill: -200 honor
Third kill: -400 honor
Fourth kill: -800 honor
Fifth kill: -1600 honor
And so on.

As you can see, if you choose to be an enemy to your own company, these penalties can add up very quickly.

Once you reach -500 Honour your ship will be tagged with the target symbol shown above, and you will become fair game for your own company.

Additionally, you will receive a damage penalty based on the amount of negative Honour you have.

-200 = 10% lower damage
-500 = 20% lower damage
-1000 = 40% lower damage
-2000 = 70% lower damage
-10000 = 90% lower damage

If you have become an Outlaw and you wish to become a productive member of your company again, you will need to get your Honour back into positive numbers.

The best way to do this is to start the quest called "An offer you can't refuse".
This quest is only available if you have -500 Honour or less.

When doing this quest you will NOT receive any Credits, Experience, or Uridium when killing NPC's. However you WILL get much more Honour than you normally would.

**NOTE: You will not be able to accept this quest if you have other quests running. All other quests must either be completed or canceled before this quest will allow you to accept it.

Special Designs are basically paint jobs. That means you MUST purchase the actual Ship before you are able to use any of the Designs for it.
Just buying a Design without having the Ship first will NOT give you the Ship as well.

All Ships cost either 500 Uridium or 1 Repair Credit in order to repair after being destroyed.
(Ship repairs are free for Premium members).
This is why it is always recommended that you do NOT repair credit ships as it is much cheaper to simply earn credits and purchase a new one if you are not a Premium member.

Up to 8 Drones can be purchased for any ship.
This basically gives you more slots in which to put lasers, shields or CPU's.

Drone Levels

Each time you destroy an NPC or enemy ship you will receive a certain number of points towards your Drone levels.
Depending on the level of your Drone, you will also receive a bonus added to any lasers or shields equipped on them. That bonus depends on what level your Drone is.

Level 1: 1% Bonus to lasers and 2% bonus to shields.
Level 2: 2% Bonus to lasers and 4% bonus to shields.
Level 3: 4% Bonus to lasers and 8% bonus to shields.

Level 5: 8% Bonus to lasers and 16% bonus to shields.
Level 6 (max.): 10% Bonus to lasers and 20% bonus to shields.

As your Drones level you will also see their appearance change slightly with each level.
(See images below)

Drone Types

There are two types of Drones.
A Credit Drone called a Flax and a Drone you can either bid on in Trade, or purchase with Uridium called an Iris.

Flax Drones have 1 slot that can be used for weapons and shields. Certain types of CPU's can be equipped as well.

Iris Drones have 2 slots that can be used for weapons and shields. Certain types of CPU's can be equipped on these as well.

The more Drones you have on your ship, the more the price increases for your next purchase.
Below you will see the cost for each Drone as well as a guide to how each looks as they level up.

Level 5 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Level 6 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Drone Damage and Repair

All Drones become damaged each time your ship is destroyed (usually 2%-3% each time).
Once a Drone reaches 100% damage it will be destroyed and you will have to purchase it again.
To avoid this, make sure you check your Drone damage regularly in your Equipment page in the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
If you want to be safe, repair any Drones with damage higher than 90%.
Some people prefer to wait until 95% or higher, but this makes the chances of loses a Drone much higher as it's easy to forget later on.

Each Drone repair costs 500 Uridium or 1 Repair Credit (250 Uridium or 1 Repair Credit for Premium members).
Each time any Drone is repaired it will lose 1 level that you will have to make up again.

There is an option in the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] menu that allows you to turn your Drones on or off. If you choose to turn them off, they will appear as small dots beneath your ship instead.
This doesn't change anything except your display.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty Weapons and Ammunition

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 3:37 pm

There are several different types of Weapons and Ammunition in Dark Orbit. Some are used offensively, while others are geared more toward defensive uses.

Lasers

There are 4 different types of Lasers available:
LF-1 (10,000 Credits) - These lasers are capable of doing 40 damage per shot with LCB-10 (x1) ammunition.
MP-1 (40,000 Credits) - These lasers are capable of doing 60 damage per shot with LCB-10 (x1) ammunition.
LF-2 (5,000 Uridium) - These lasers are capable of doing 100 damage per shot with LCB-10 (x1) ammunition.
LF-3 (10,000 Uridium) - These lasers are capable of doing 150 damage per shot with LCB-10 (x1) ammunition.

**LF-2 and LF-3 Lasers are also available in the [url=]Trade[/url] area.

Laser Ammunition

Laser ammunition comes in 5 forms:

LCB-10 (x1 damage) Costs 10 game credits per shot.
MCB-25 (x2 damage) Costs .5 Uridium per shot.
MCB-50 (x3 damage) Costs 1 Uridium per shot.
UCB-50 (x4 damage) Is not available for purchase (more information below).
RSB-75 (x6 damage but has a cool down time of 3 seconds) Costs 5 Uridium per shot.

These costs are per laser. Which means if you have 10 lasers equipped, LCB-10 will cost you 100 game credits per shot fired. The same goes for the Uridium ammo.

There are 3 ways to obtain the UCB-50 ammunition.
As a reward for completing certain quests within the game.
By completing [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
And by using Galaxy Gate Energies in the materializer, which will give you a small percentage chance to receive UCB-50 ammunition.

Rocket Ammunition and Launchers

Rocket ammunition comes in 4 forms:

R-310 rockets cost 100 game credits per rocket, and will hit your target for up to 1,000 damage per shot.
PLT-2026 rockets cost 500 game credits per rocket, and will hit your target for up to 2,000 damage per shot.
PLT-2021 rockets cost 5 Uridium per rocket, and will hit your target for up to 4,000 damage per shot.

HSTRM-01 Hellstorm rockets cost 25 Uridium per rocket and are a specialty item that can only be used with the special Hellstorm rocket launchers (HST-1 and HST-2).
The damage caused can be anywhere from 2,500 to 25,000 depending on which launcher is used and how many rockets are fired.

Hellstorm Rocket Launchers

HST-1 (500,000 Credits)
This launcher is capable of firing up to 3 HSTRM-01 Rockets each time it is used.
(75 Uridium per volley)

HST-2 (15,000 Uridium)
This is the Elite version of the Hellstorm Rocket Launcher. It is capable of firing up to 5 HSTRM-01 Rockets each time it is used.
(125 Uridium per volley)

Specialty Ammunition

In addition to rockets and lasers, there are a few other forms of specialty ammunition available.

SAB-50 is a shield absorbing ammo that takes shields away from your target and gives them to you. This ammunition costs 1 Uridium per shot (multiplied by the number of lasers you have equipped).

PLD-08 Plasma Charger temporarily reduces the accuracy of your attacker's weapons, helping you to come out on top. The cost is 100 uridium for 1 use.

EMP-01 Electro-Magnetic Pulse will temporarily short circuit your enemy's weapons systems causing them to lose their target lock on you. The cost is 500 Uridium for 1 use.
*An additional side effect of this weapon is that it has a 50% chance to cause any hidden enemies in range to lose their cloak.

ACM-1 These are mines. When deployed they cause 20% damage to any ship that touches them.
These mines take 5 seconds to activate once they've been deployed and there is a 60 second cool down time before you can use another one.

Smart Bombs
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
These bright explosions will cause 25% damage to EVERY ship within range.
(This includes friendly ships, so be aware of your allies' locations before you activate one of these babies)
You must have purchased the SMB-01 CPU and have it equipped before you can use Smart Bombs.

Each use requires 10 ACM-1 mines and 100 Xenomit. If you do not have enough of these your Smart Bomb will not deploy.

(Unofficial) Dark Orbit Bible Empty List of NPC's

Post  EXODUS Mon Sep 20, 2010 4:53 pm

NPC's or Non-Player Characters of all kinds fill the Dark Orbit universe.

With the exception of Protegits and Cubikons, all other NPC's come in 3 versions.
From easiest to hardest they are, Regular, Boss and Uber NPC's.

Uber NPC's give rewards that are shared among all the players attacking them.
All other NPC's only give rewards to the player who has a target lock (except when in an [url=Outfit[/url]).
The only exception to this rule is the Kucurbium, which also divides it's rewards among the players attacking it.

The following is a complete list of NPC's by order of appearance.
